Grandpa Has Last Laugh After Hooking Bride

TAIF, 11 August 2006 - The family thought the old man was
joking. But he wasn't. According to a report in the Al-Madinah daily yesterday,
an 80-year-old family patriarch said he was going to marry a young woman. The
family, thinking he was joking, laughed it off. They stopped laughing when the
old man distributed wedding invitations a few days later announcing his planned
nuptials to a 20-year-old bride.
A Woman's Heart Costs More Than Ten Riyals
MAKKAH, 11 August 2006 - The man tried to fool his bride with
a little something he picked up from the All-For-10-Riyals store, the Saudi
equivalent of the dollar stores in the US, the Okaz daily reported yesterday.
For the price of two shawarma sandwiches, the man bought his lady a piece of
jewelry made out of fake gold - for the couple's wedding! Imagine his surprise
when the woman later discovered the ruse and refused to live with a man whose
trust is as thin as the flaking layer of gold-colored nickel plating on a
tacky, All-For-10-Riyals piece of costume jewelry.
Ladies Tell Abuser: Oh No You Don't!
MAKKAH, 11 August 2006 - A man who slapped his wife around in
a Makkah shopping center drew the ire of a large number of Saudi women
shoppers, the Al-Riyadh daily reported yesterday. As he was shouting and
beating his wife, he didn't notice the growing mob of black that was
surrounding him. He turned to see several abaya-covered women glaring at him
through the eye-slots in their niqabs. The women threatened to beat the heck
out of the man. Some held up items they had bought that could be used as
weapons. They ordered the man to apologize to his lady and promise not to be
abusive any more. The man made his pledge and the couple quickly exited the
shopping center before the women could change their minds and decide that the
man deserved a little of his own medicine.
