Maid threatens to kill baby Nurhasanah She was a timid maid, scared even of balloons. But nothing stopped her from grabbing her Singaporean employer's eight-month-old baby and threatening to kill him with a pair of scissors. She threatened her employer: "Send me home now. Send me to the airport to buy ticket or I will kill this child." Though terrified, her employer, 34, kept her wits and remained calm throughout the ordeal, which dragged on for more than an hour last Nov 10. Thanks to her calmness under extreme pressure, the employer, Sally (not her real name) managed to not only save her son, but also get the maid arrested. On Wednesday morning, Nurhasanah, 29, an Indonesian, was sentenced to the minimum of two years' jail for extortion by putting a person in fear of death. Sally, who was in court, later told The New Paper at her Jurong home: "I am angry, still very angry with her. "But I am also sad that she's so silly. If she had just a little patience, all this would not have happened. She would have been able to go back home." The boy and his parents cannot be named because the boy's identity has to be protected under the Children and Young Persons Act. Sally said that it was not the first time that Nurhasanah, who began working for the family in June or July last year, had asked to be sent home. - The New Paper Published May 21 2010 [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
