                         TO HOST WAP 2000 IN KOREA

   One-day Event to Address Business and Technical Issues Relating to the
      Commercial Rollout of WAP-based Products and Services in Korea

   SEOUL, Korea (February 17, 2000)  Phone.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: PHCM), a
   leading provider of mobile Internet software and services, today
   announced that it is co-hosting a one-day event today, entitled "WAP
   2000," centered on the topic of the commercial rollout of Wireless
   Application Protocol (WAP)-based products and services in Korea. LG
   Telecom is acting as host and Shinsegi Telecomm will serve as co-host
   along with Phone.com(TM) for this premier industry event. Organizing
   the WAP event is a result of the two Korean wireless network
   operators' mutual desire to cooperate in promoting mobile Internet
   business through the WAP platform.

   WAP 2000 is aimed at bringing together Internet content providers,
   application developers, as well as media and industry analysts in
   order to present the latest in WAP technology and applications. The
   WAP 2000 event will take place today at the Grand Intercontinental
   Hotel in Seoul. Included in the day's agenda will be a keynote address
   by LG Telecom vice president Se Kyung Lim, and other presentations
   include "Wireless Internet Service: Today and Tomorrow" pesented by
   Dr. Jae Hyun Ahn from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and
   Technology, and "Why WAP?" by Phone.com. The developer technical
   perspective will be presented in two separate sessions by mobile
   Internet content and applications developers CCR and airi. In
   addition, WAP testimonial success stories will be presented by
   Mobilephone Telecommunications International Ltd., a comprehensive
   provider of content and applications for Japanese, German and Italian
   mobile Internet content markets, and Index Corporation, a pioneer in
   the Japanese mobile Internet content market.

   The two network operators have committed to promoting and producing
   future WAP-focused events, and will take turns acting as host.
