I don't understand quoting me and then saying girls are submissive and
that there is nothing wrong with them being in the military and that
women's liberation has been a part of 20th change. Are these statements
supporting what I said or are they assuming a disagreement with what I
Like I never said women shouldn't be in the military. I am not opposed
to women have careers. The first doctor in Linn county Oregon was a
woman, and I am talking pioneer days. Ben Franklin's wife ran the
business while Ben Franklin spent many years in Europe, and most our
founding fathers spent very little at home, leaving running everything to
their wives. Some of the best women's right stuff comes up in the early
1900's, and horses on the range, in cattle country, did much to increase
the power position of women as equals.
One of the best marriage books I read was written in 1912, and stresses
the importance of thinking of the wife as an equal, and gives great
advice to women with difficult husbands.
Especially Quakers were active in the women's suffrage movement, as they
were active in freeing slaves. But only recently did we begin denying
the best aspects of women and start acting as though there is something
wrong with being feminine . And this degrading of women came with the
communist liberation of women in the USSR, long before we "liberated"
women. In case you came in late- when the communist "liberated" women by
saying full time homemakers are non productive members of society, at
first the flood of women into the work force improved the economy, then
the divorce and abortion rates began to climb and more and more women and
children fell below the level of poverty. We can add to this, more and
more women and children involved in crime and violence, both as victims
Communications rarely cover everything that can be said about something.
I like Athena, our Statue of Liberty, Lady of Justice, Spirit of America.
My grandmother supporter her children by herself, when women had to have
men sign for purchases like a house. My mother raised my sister and I
alone, when women were still automatically paid less then men, and
society seemed to be trying to maintain the Aristotle order of men
equating cattle, slaves and women, as creatures created for men. But I
think we have gone from one extreme to another, and that the thinking
today is no more liberating than past thinking. Like is it okay if I
don't want to be in the military and don't what to be like a man? Can we
be liberated to enjoy my femininity? Dare I say, women a needed in a
balanced society? The role of the mother seems to far more important to
our democracy than many consider her to be. This is important
politically. THINK ABOUT THIS- GERMANY WAS A CHRISTIAN REPUBLIC AND OUR
ENEMY IN TWO WORLD WARS. SOCIALISM, COMMUNISM AND FASCISM ARE FORMS OF
DEMOCRACY. WE SHOULD NOT BE TAKING OUR DEMOCRACY FOR GRANTED, AND THE
GOVERNMENT DIFFERENCE HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MEN
