Interest that Nixon was a Quaker, and became a lieutenant commander in
the navy during the second world war.  One of his daughters married one
of Eisenhower's grandsons and a picture of Nixon and Eisenhower and their
wives, when Nixon was nominated in 1952, shows Nixon and Eisenhower as
being personally close.  I must say I am surprised by this Quaker and
military career man relationship.

Quakers have historically taken a firm stand against being involved in
military actions.
But they also strongly promote independent thinking and tolerance.  Now I
am interested in hearing some of his speeches.     CS
