OK, found the problem: an old keymap file. Now shift-backspace enables
cheat mode. On my system (Radeon 9600XT with the r300 mesa driver in
Debian experimental) there's no noticeable difference in the frame rate.
And a shadow error (a shadow painted between the object casting it and
the floor where the shadow is) seems to be gone.
