But Warzone 2100 is not, as you assumed, "Freeware", but rather "Freedomware" or "Free Software": It is licensed under the GPL. Therefore there is not "the" copyright-holder. They are many, which understandably can't all sign a statement. The GPL also says that it applies to _everyone_ who gets the software legaly. Therefore _everyone_ can distribute the program (within certain requirements). Warzone 2100 is licensed under the terms of the GPL (2). For you its most important part is the paragraph 3 concerning distribution of non-sourcecode. The probably most convenient variant for you would be to press the sourcecode on the CD (~20MB). Additionaly you have to inform your readers that Warzone 2100 is licensed under the GPL and they gain certain rights by that. (You don't need to list them, or even print the text of the GPL. The text of the GPL must be provided though, but it is already present in any of the installers we provide.) Warzone 2100 is completely playable, but sadly not a complete game. For example the cutscenes are missing due to legal reasons. The game is continuosly developed, so it would be nice if you could point your readers to our homepage http://wz2100.net/ where new versions are published. Because the 2.0 versions of Warzone 2100 are partly still somewhat unstable and not fully to our satisfaction, we would advise you to wait for version 2.1, which we expect in quartal one next year. Additionaly it would be nice, if you could accompany the Windows-installer with the MacOSX and Linux installers (all roughly 20MB). If you have further questions, we would like to assist you.
