So today I spent somewhere between 8 to 9 hours crushing all the pngs in the data folder in trunk; here are the results.
pngs were crushed with 'optipng -zc1-9 -zm1-9 -zs0-3 -f0-5' You can find more info on optipng http://optipng.sourceforge.net/manual.html#EXTENDED%20DESCRIPTION (of particular interest is point 4) The output of this command and a list of the files changed is: http://wz2100.pastebin.com/hmR2L3yD (warning: very large) The before and after sizes of the changed files were calculated with 'du -skch' The output from this is: http://wz2100.pastebin.com/AciZyLTY As an interesting side note, a number of files with indexed colour spaces have more than one transparent "colour"; unless there is a reason for this it should be fixed at some point. Overall this saves much less space than my last crush session (which was around 10mb), but I would still recommend that it be applied, if for no other reason than those described in point 4 of the Extended Description section of the optipng manual. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- My Web Sites: http://dak180.users.sourceforge.net/
