If you are using the latest Firewatir version i.e. 1.6.5rc2 you can do
something like this:

browser.button(:id, [button
id]).click_no_wait()

browser.click_jspopup_button("OK")  // If you want to click ok
or
browser.click_jspopup_button("CANCEL")  // If you want to click cancel
