I went with a brute-force regex solution in my watir script for now to unblock me. It would be nice if watir could tell the difference between nested bullet/numbered lists. I think this is similar to the nested tables problem - i.e. how many rows/columns are there in a table that has another table within it? Thanks for looking into it. Cheers! Paul.
