Can you post the debug output for that? The _no_wait runs the command in a separate process and the debug output will show that command and the load_path it generates - there could be an issue there. The other thing you could try is set the env variable RUBYOPT=-rubygems which will get picked up in the no_wait process and might help locate the gems.
