Hi, I'm newish to Test Automation, Watir and Ruby; I am a tester with responsibility to functionally test a website. I wish to harness some of the power of Automation to create a set of tests to regression test the website. These would be simple tests to check for elements, fields, text etc... Watir looks a great candidate. What I need is:-
1. A set of tests I can run overnight or first thing in the morning 2. Tests which generate a results report (preferably in HTML) of pass/ fail 3. Tests which I can maintain and update eaily So, to get up and running, I have: 1. Downloaded the Watir book 0-7-1, read and done the examples 2. Joined this community 3. Ordered Everday Scripting with Ruby I plan to: 1. Use a small area of the website to create my first tests 2. Create a small script which I can run from command prompt 3. Initially check results in command prompt 4. Learn how to incoporate a reporting class - such as example within Wiki I think what I really need is a Framework to help me organise tests, test maintenance and updates and reporting. Any general advice on the best way to progress and learn as I go, greatly appreciated. Thanks -- Before posting, please read http://watir.com/support. In short: search before you ask, be nice.
