So can't access dead object - indicates the object is no longer valid .
Try google search with subject "can't access dead object DOM" or ruby or
selenium.
Example:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/18401890/know-if-a-dom-object-is-dead
Example:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/16396767/firefox-bug-with-selenium-cant-access-dead-object

The solution is probably to do a find of the object you are looking for
after the select step as the dom may have updated a parent node and now
that old object is stale.
