Personally, i like - what https://launchpad.net/ is offering for code and project discussion, though - can't tell if it's suitable for protocol development, maybe - just a separate mailing list for now and as we suggested some time before - reup the waveprotocol.org with integration of some stable wave servers (bit of competition here)) - to replace google groups.
