an another opinion,
my opinion - federated ID could replace data federation if system is
FLOSS, decentralized,
moreover - federation could be realized in a way of fast
exporting-importing(..migration) from one place to another
and all this would work now on old notebooks, not that powerhouses
that Apache Wave is targeting as a ancestor of Google tech and would,
probably, need.
Am i wrong? Please, provide the prove, facts, not only opinion.
Watch the Etherpad story now:
Etherpad/Etherpad Lite
Size of the folder (without git history): 30 MB/1.5 MB
Languages used server side: Javascript (Rhino), Java,
Scala/Javascript (node.js)
Lines of server side Javascript code: 101410/5330
RAM Usage immediately after start: 257 MB/16 MB
that is(Lite results) minus Tags highlighting system, revisions, but,
that what you could get rid of, if you want to be helpful now,
that's my point, should i describe further?
> Until you have alter natives that can do the same thing can you please stop
> encouraging others to leave wave.
i have proposed and since XCCC evolve, i will propose again and again
the alternatives, as i know the demands of Kune,
as it's de-coupled enough to kick out one part in favor of another.
Fact - the real needs of people are far more urgent and important than
federation or even concurrent editing, now.
There are a real need for small and portable social network, one that
could run on let's say 1.2GHz processor, 512RAM of freedombox's, on
mobiles,
in the end.
Not Apache Wave nor PyOfWave aren't able ATM and, even more, weren't
developed to provide this.
Right tool for the job, man.
Why i think it would be good in Kune? Because I see Kune as a
collection of tools for libre people,
not a uber-network of future, am i wrong VJRJ?
Again - work of XCCC is to make a real federation for concurrent
social network!s, not a this or that one federated system. Do you
really believe - you could federate with other concurrent with
Apache's WIAB incubator project - any time soon? Have you tried this
latest Kune, Thomas?
> Kune is a wonderful thing, and in theory could exchange and read messages
> from my wave sever at home.
Kune is partially Apache Wave, partially other useful tools. I see the
Kune as a pragmatic, mixed instrument that aimed to be useful for
concrete needs. That's all from what i'v heard and read from Kune
developers.
I see the needs in one direction, you see in another, it's not a
reason to panic.
It's Apache Wave (WIAB project) that is a wonderful thing and brave
experiment,
that, probably, only the disciplined Apache community could lead to real use.
That's all - my opinion, based on facts and analytic.
> Try to get working code online
code is online for a months, see - http://sharejs.org:8000/ and that
OpenCoWeb demo's
> Rather then talk showcase a better alternative!
I'v provided a two working alternatives, according to my proposition's
conception.
> But without federation for users to communicate with each other they would
> all need to have their message and details on the same server.
Obviously :)
That is what i propose and describe as a !strength for Kune goals, not
a weak side.
PS: I'll better wait for VJRJ commentary, rather than continue this
(IMO)reasonless dispute.
