It'll be a fair amount of work - you'll need to port all the other code, including the wave model code, to C++. It's about 40K lines all up, a handwave is that you'd probably need to port 30K of them. OTOH, c++ isn't as verbose as java, so it'd probably be less code in all. It's still a lot of code to write, easily tens of thousands of lines, and you'd need to keep it up to date with the Java code.
