I could understand elements & annotations if the rest is plain text. But it's not. In Apple lingo "this is replicating core functionality and might confuse the user" ;-) Also, links should include a rel attribute, but annotations are just key-value, and the value is already taken for the href. W/o clear guidelines when to use which alternative and exact description of all acceptable annotations this has a very strong smell to me.
