Sounds likely that something is missing. Links are represented in the document as an annotation over the linked text. The annotation key is "link/manual" (I hope there's a symbolic constant for it somewhere) and the value is the http link or a waveref (for link-to-wave). I unfortunately don't know the details of how the rendering is triggered - Pat can you weigh in? Also I note the toolbar button for adding a link is missing, but that shouldn't be too hard to add back either.
