I'd really like to see fence support added into the compositor so we can stop
committing surfaces asynchronously on the client side.
However, I think we should keep discussion about that in a separate bug, as the
issue is different than the one tracking in this bug.
I filed https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98766 for that purpose.
