Some tangentially related bug fixes I stumbled on while fixing a startup
race in weston-terminal.

I think in the long term I think we should consider setting CLOEXEC on
stdin, stderr, and stdout - but I don't do that here because it would
break logging for weston-keyboard et al.  Those should probably be launched
with pipes to weston instead of sharing stderr/stdout so weston can ensure
coherency in the log file (instead of interrupting eachothers writes) anyway.

The weston-terminal startup mess is most easily shown for me by running
weston-terminal --shell=filenotfound
on enlightenment - w-t tries to print its error message before the window
has been sized, which results in a segfault.
