IIRC you need to call the request something else (e.g. release, used in similar situations), as wayland-scanner already generated the destructor zwp_pointer_gestures_v1_destroy() which doesn't make any request but still destructs client side.
When we move to the protocol to stable, we can name it destroy() however.
