I have found whole bread & butter pickles where I live. They don't taste as
good as the sliced ones though. I have a comment to make about Clara's
expression when she bites into the pickle. It looks as if the pickles were
sour enough to loosen her dentures. Now that is sour.

Good advice Harriet. To be sure, there are some bad apples on eBay, but
there are also hundreds of thousands of successful transactions every
week that you don't here about. I love eBay. I've bought over 150 items
there over three years and everyone I've dealt with have been very
honest individuals. I even routinely send cash if the total is less than
ten dollars. I've never been taken. The one instance where I had to
return an item, was handled with no questions asked, and I received a
prompt refund.
There are some precautions you can take. Every eBay user has a rating
number assigned to them based on comments left by other users who have
dealt with them. The more postive comments left by other users, the
higher the rating. Negative comments reduces the rating. Never buy from
sellers with excessive negative feedback. These comments can be viewed
with a click of the mouse.
eBay is a great source for TAGS collectibles too. Over half of my
collection was purchased there, including my favorite item, a plastic
bag made to hold a slice of Andy Griffith Sliced Boneless Ham from his
food company in the early 70's. I have the navy beans can, now if I can
only find the sausage wrapper. I once saw a paper gravy container lid
from Andy's fried chicken restaurants, sell for $75on eBay. Can you
imagine what the whole container would bring. Not all items are so
pricey. You can get some real deals too. I got all three TAGS trading
card sets for less than 15$.
Take care all....Al Becker

Howdy do to you and you!

just jump in here with a web site where you can listen to my renderin' of a
dozen or so
songs about YOU KNOW WHAT!!!
A few of the titles are: Hail to Floyd, Guzzlin' in Mayberry, To Otis,
How Did You Wind Up With Helen?, "No Thanks Leon, It's Therapedic, and

to get rid of....

*****QUOTE OF THE DAY*****
AUNT BEE: Did youlike the white beans you had for supper?
ANDY: Um huh.
AUNT B: Well, you didn't say anything.
ANDY: Well, I ate four bowls. It that ain't a tribute to
white beans, I don't know what is.
AUNT B: Well.
ANDY: Eatin' speaks louder than words.
(Pause)
AUNT B: You know, your education was worth every penny of it.

Subject: Barney's Necktie
I was just watching the episode where Barney must leave Mrs. Mendlebright's
room. She opens Barney's closet door and there hanging on the back of the
door is a striped necktie. I never noticed it before, but if my memory
serves me correctly, I do not think Barney ever wore anything but his
famous bowtie with his salt and pepper. So am wondering why he would have
that tie. Does anyone recall him ever wearing a striped tie?

Subject: Gold Truck Watching
Dear Gloria,
I would dearly appreciate it if you could help me out on my gold truck
watching duty. It's a joy, but it can be tiresome at times; and I have
to say some people actually look at me funny at times, what with my "Laura
Lee Hobbs Welcomes All Gold Trucks" sign and all. They just don't get it.
And with the hot summer coming up, our beloved Lydia ain't gonna be a bit of
help to me 'cause that girl can't stay out in the sun for two seconds--it
gives her the herpes, if you'll remember her saying to Andy (and Barney
kindly replying, "Well, of course it does." He can be
so understanding at times.).
So, if any of you kind Andy fans want to hitch your wagon to my star and be
on the look out for gold truck receiving, I welcome you aboard!
Your Mayberry friend and gold truck watcher extraordinare, Laura Lee Hobbs

Subject: Pickle questions
I don't put allspice in my bread&butter pickles, only in pickled beets.
I made the Aunt Bee pickle recipe that is in the latest cookbook and
added a pinch of allspice as they suggested. They were definitely in the
dill or sour category though but were pretty good; chopped up in potato
salad they were quite tasty. They took first place in our Central
Florida Fair! Happy picklin' this summer!!! Aunt Bee of Orlando

I hope all you lucky folks with TVLand are recovering from the Andy-thon!
I loved reading the suggestions for food for a Mayberry dinner--some of you
oughta be in the funny papers!
I wonder if anyone could send me the following episodes (of course, I'll pay
for the tape and postage):
The Merchant of Mayberry (Bert "I hate a pushy salesman" Miller)
and
Bargain Day ("Call the man!")

Wow this TV Land marathon is great!!!!!!! Even if I do have terrible
reception and have to squint.....it's worth it. Was watching the episode
the other night, on a local station so it was clear, where Sam run's for
city council. As the inner circle met at the Taylors' waiting for the
returns, who do we see but Johnny Koons (or is it Coons?) and Mr. Schwump.
It is now my belief that Mr. Schwump was really the political boss of
Mayberry. I'll be he helped Floyd get elected when he ran for City Council
and was probably responsible for Andy's political career.
Makes ya think.........even without a bucket.

Whoever began all this talk of a new game, what old game are you talking
about? I have the one sold by Jim in the Bullet and the computer one I
got at WalMart. Are there others out there? Please advise with details
as I am interested in collecting anything related to Mayberry. Thanks in
advance. Aunt Bee of Orlando

Subject: A Wonderful Weekend!
hello good Mayberry folk! I must say that I enjoyed the TVLand
Fandemonium weekend very much! My 9 week old woke me up 3 times last night,
knowing that I wanted to catch more episodes I suppose! He'll certainly
know soon enough how much I do love my TAGS. My 16 year old son knows, and
is at a stage where he doesn't appreciate it as much, although he does watch
them with me. My husband has grown to love the show, due to my persistent
exposure. With many episodes, I do find myself missing a part of my
childhood. Sitting on the front porch with my grandparents and visiting
with the neighbors. We do attend our family reunion every summer in West
Virginia, and the pace is slower and the people seems friendlier there.
TAGS keeps me "sane" sometimes, and I feel grounded after I watch an
episode. Well, enough of my "therapy".... anxious for my 4 am feeding
tonight, guess I'll get to catch an episode or two of TAGS!!
