Folks,

I just want to remind everybody that this is NOT the place to get into a
religious discussion about TAGS and church and the like. Everybody, please
stay on topic as much as we can and let this drop. It looks like I'm going to
have to take a few steps to insure that we try and stay on topic.

I'm not for folks "back handing" Christians nor am I for folks using the
Digest as a preaching tool. This is our little corner of Mayberry and while
folks might disagree on some things, I don't believe we have to air our
laundry right in each others face.

This place is an escape from the "real world" and I don't want to see that
change. Enjoy your time here and try to help other folks enjoy it too.

Thanks!

Allan

Subject: Where Andy lives

Hiddy all!

Andy lives on a private island on the outskirts of Wilmington, NC. Alec
Baldwin and Kim Basinger also live here. My cousin once went on an
interview to be a nanny for a family on the island. She didn't get the job
or see Andy's house for all I know, but had to stop at a security gate
before even being let onto the island. There aren't many houses on it.
I'll write her for more information and get back to you.

That same summer, I worked on "Jackal" which was filmed at the same studio,
Screen Gem's Studio's (Carlaco Studio's when Matlock was there) where
Matlock was filmed. They had just stopped filming Matlock and his house was
still on a stage we were going to use. I didn't watch Matlock all the time,
but it was really neat to be in one of Andy's homes! The courtroom was also
still set up, but the stage was in use by another production and I couldn't
get in there to see it. Neat!

Andy and his wife live somewhere in the village of Manteo on
Roanoak
Island in Cape Hatteras off the east coast of NC. Don't know his
actual
address or phone or email. Would love to find out...if you do.

*****BRAND NEW*****

Jean "the Fun Girl" Carson now has her very own web site!! That's right, you
now have a place to drop in and purchase AUTOGRAPHED Photos of Mayberry's
funnest Fun Girl, and convict at large, Jean Carson. What happened was that
Jean was going broke trying to fill all the requests for signed photos and
the only way she was gonna be able to keep it up was to start charging for
the autographs. I set up the site for her for free so rest assured that all
the money is going right to Jean to cover the cost of having the photos
printed and covering her costs. Check out the URL for her site!

You can also find a link to Jean's site from the front of the TAGSRWC web
site. I hope you like all the news!!! It's BIG!!

Just noticed on the Internet Movie database that Don Knotts has a
part in the remake of The Incredible Mr. Limpet. Even though his role
is uncredited, I am sure we will have no problem finding our favorite
deputy on the big screen!

They're startomg them pretty early on history now, aren't they
Jane? Well they have to, there's a lot more of it, you know. =20

My 4th grader, Alison, was studying History about a month ago and
had some vocabulary words she wanted me to "hold the book on her"
to check her knowledge. The ones she HAD to know were underlined,
but I spotted one on her list that wasn't marked by her teacher,
but that I hoped that my little one might know. Did me right
pround when in answer to "Emancipation Proclamation" she replied
with a sly grin "Well, there were these folks, and they wanted to
get themselves emancipated, and how else were they going to do it
without a proclamation,....."

No kidding, that's what she said. I guess once she learns
something, she's got it, just like ole Barn.

Jeff

P.S. - Her favorite episode is Bargain Day or "Call the Man" as
it is known around our house.=20

All,

Don't know if anybody else caught it but tonight (4/3) Biography did a piece
on Don Knotts. Very entertaining and insightful. It's hard to believe but
just recently he was given his "star" on the "Walk of Stars" in Hollywood.
To think, that actors of a less caliber got theirs before he did.

Hey all you Gomer fans, too! Did anyone watch this evening's Gomer and
notice the front porch of Sgt. Carter's mom's house? Did it look
AWFULLY familiar to you, too. A little change here and there, but it
sure did resemble Andy's guitar pickin', apple peelin', Aunt Bee rockin'
porch.

Hi Folks!

I was wondering if anyone has squad car door decals they wish to sell or could
hook me up with the printer that did one for them in the past. Just finished my
'63 and the printer I was going to have make the decals cannot use the drawing
from the websight. Please e-mail to the above address. Thanks in advance!

The episode I think you are talking about is the one where Opie puts out a
small paper with another child or two, while searching for interesting
stories Opie ends up getting the town gossip. Andy, Barney and Aunt Bee go
out to collect them all before they are read. After all of the issues are
collected and thrown out Andy and Barney are at the dump looking for
them...to get the gossip I think, anyway, Andy runs across a "questionable"
magazine and after looking at it for a moment says something like who get a
magazine like this, turns it over and says Barney!! It has been along time
since I have seen this episode but I'm pretty sure thats how it went.

>>>From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] I don't seem to remember any references like
that at all. Yes, there were references to wife beating, arson, alcohol and
such, but the "P" word. Come on!
>>>

Andy mentions in episode 26 "The Inspector" that he used to take the Police
Gazette. This publication, as I understand it, was a magazine that men
purchased more for the photos than for the articles. Andy admits himself
that "it had a lot of girlie pictures in it."

Later, in "The Lucky Letter," Barney owns up to the fact that he subscribes
to a similar magazine, "Tales of Love." Andy comes across a copy in the
town dump with Barney's name on it.

Whether or not either of these publicactions qualifies as "P" or not is a
matter of speculation. I would guess that both titles were closer to the
pin-up magazines of WWII than to actual "P".

        <<< Pornography in Mayberry???? >>>>

This is a stretch, but I believe that he is referring to the episode
where Andy is discussing Barney with another man and talks about the
Detectives Gazette (or something) and mentions that he keeps it out of sight
because the deputy's not married.

Subject: Re: Pornography

There was an instance of what might be called pornography in Mayberry on an
episode on TV Land the other day. Andy and Barney were at the dump looking
for a chain letter that Barney threw away. Andy found a "girlie" magazine
that had Barney's name on the mailing label. Barney said he subscribed to
it because there are many famous authors who write articles for that
magazine. But he couldn't remember any of their names. Even though they
didn't use the word "pornography" in that episode, many people associate
those magazines with softcore porn.
