Who's the Mister Potato head that started that fuss, Amen to brother
Floyd!, That corn word should never be said in here, Look at the evil it
brings Moonshiners! then we have to bust up the stills. Jubel Fosters barn
burnt down because of corn, And Opie almost took the blame, look what it did
to poor Otis, he rode a cow into town because of corn, and I won't get into
what happened to the ladies and Aunt Bee thanks to Colonel Harveys Elixer.
So in closing Lets not use that word in here, and say no to CORN!

Hang in there Allan! Your a Prince of a Fella!

I just want to say that folks around here come from miles around just to get
me to sharpen their pocket knife. You see I'm either a whittlin or sharpinin
a knife 90% of my life. I guess you might say I pride myself somewhat on
being a right fair whittler. Now I ain't no Cousin Virgil, no sir not by a
long shot. I do enjoy my whittlin right up there with eatin good crappie
(Thats a fish for you city folks). I have had people come by and ask me to
carve them this or carve them that and I generally do. But the other day I
saw Andy peeling that apple on his front porch and I decided that of all the
whittlin I'd done. I had really never tried to peel a whole apple without
breaking the peel. Well let me tell you. It ain't no easy job...., fact is,
it takes some doing. I know Malcom Tucker did it his first try. I didn't
have that much luck. But after a few tries and and a little boy with a belly
full of scrap apple eatins I had me a dandy long piece of apple peel. Yep. I
was right proud of myself. Jimbo "Dr. Pendyke" Seay

Hey all,

I am a new subscriber to the list, and pardon me if this has come up before.
But when I read Richard's letter about Andy's porch popping up on Gomer Pyle,
it reminded me of a lot of other instances where a set from one show will pop
up in another. But one of interest to you all...

Anyone ever see the "Star Trek" episode, "The City on the Edge of Forever"?
It's the one in which Kirk falls for a charity worker (Joan Collins) during
the Great Depression. Anyway there is a scene in which the two are walking
down the street, past several familiar-looking storefronts...and one of them
was--guess what?--Floyd's barbershop!! Yes, the same lettering and
everything. And I *know* it was the same one run by dear Mr. Lawson because
1) the lettering was the same; 2) the adjacent stores (radio shop, grocery
store) also lined up on Mayberry's Main Street; and 3) "Star Trek" and "TAGS"
were both shot on the same Desilu soundstage...

Keep an eye out for it,
Dixon

Did I completely miss out on the
voting for Andy's best girl?
If I'm not too late, I'd like to cast my vote
for Ellie Walker. None of the others
really seemed quite right for Andy,
if you'll pardon my saying so, even Miss Crump.
And Ellie was always so sweet and purty!
What do ya'll think?

Hi Everybody!

I have a question you can all help me with. I'm going to be doing a
trial run Mayberry Bible Study at church in a couple of weeks, and I was
wondering what to serve for refreshments! I plan on having some pop in
bottles (although I don't think I EVER saw it in those little brown
bottles like the boys used to get down to the fillin' station! You sure
that was soda pop??) and making up some "Mr. Cookie Bars". Any other
suggestions for Mayberryish snacks? (And, no, I don't consider Leg O'
Lamb a snack!)

Although we're planning to add the TAGS Bible Study Series to our church's
Fall schedule (twice a week, no less!), I got a call last week from the
Pastor asking if I'd cover Wednesday night for him with one of my TAGS
lessons. Got to do my personal favorite (#5, Opie's Charity). I didn't
count, but I'm guessing we had 50-60 adults in attendance. And I had a
blast. Watching Andy and teachin' the Bible. It don't get much better
than that.

BUT the copy of the tape I was using happened to have the epilogue which I
had never seen before. Andy and Tom Silby are whittlin' in front of the
Court House and Tom is talking about having just been out to where he was
buried so Andy questions him about that and Tom says something like "That's
the old Tom buried out there." Whoa, talk about some good theology!

I'm sure that's not how you spell it, but did anyone notice that Ernest's
girl (no coffee, tea, or punch, thank you) Romeena at Ms. Wiley's party was
on Gomer, I think on Mon., playing the part of Gomer's buddy's pregnant
girlfriend? Just goes to show ya.

Makes ya think don't it. Jim "and while you're at it, it could use a good

OK, ladies and gentlemen, I've been sitting under the bucket just a
thinking and a thinking, and what I've come up with this time is this:
Let's say we are all sweet 18 once again, and we find ourselves in Mayberry
all pretty and single and healthy, with a head full of hair and a flat
belly, and neither Barney nor Andy have even met Helen or
Thelma Lou yet (know where this is heading?). Now, here's your chance
to date any guy on the show in the case if you are a female, and in the case
you are male, you have a shot at any of the females including
Helen and Thelma Lou (they are there in Mayberry just don't know Andy and
Barney yet), the
Fun Girls, Juanita, Sarah, Aunt Bee, Miss Emma, or that Viola Slatt.
Seeing parts and
unseen parts are all included--you just take your chances with the unseen
parts, that's all; you won't know what you'll be getting till you pick
him/her up! So my strong suggestion would be to stick with the sight seen
parts only, but hey, it's your fantasy! Just don't come
crying to me if Viola don't turn out to be as sexy as you had her pictured.
She'll least be good at keeping the conversation going. You
know that much about her anyway. Go with what you know is my advice. So,
girls, who would you pick for a first date? Boys, who would your fantasy
first date be? This is all just a fantasy. Marriage vows are always
honored in Laura Lee Hobbs' real world!
I'm pretty much already in love in Mr. Darling, but seeing as this is a
once in a lifetime shot, and seeing as I'm getting to be 18 and all, I
am going to think it over real careful. Andy is really cute with his
wavy hair, and I have been married for 29 years to a bald man...
Laura Lee Hobbs, just picturing myself running my fingers through his
hair while I set for them gold trucks...
"That's just how they act when they're pantin' after you."
