Hey,

I have been a Southern Baptsit pastor for several years and it seems like I
have heard every song there is. You will find the songs titled with
different names depending on how old the song is and in what denominations
hymn book you are singing from.

You will find the same thing with the words of the hymns. Depending on the
age of the hymn book you will find different words to various songs.
For example one hymn says "for a sinner such as I" while the older version
reads "for such a worm as I".

I feel sure if you look at many different hymn books, and from the age of
TAGS they need to be very old books, and maybe even look in the type of hymn
book Andy used as a child, you will find the hymn with the title he gave.

They're doin'it, they're doin' it, hey Andy! Way to go Andy!

Greg

Ok,
I hate to make a moulage, but I've about half of
Pleasantville & thought it was alright. But it made
me think. What would I do if I was in a TAGS
episode.
So, to turn this moulage into something good for TAGS,
I'm askin' for an answer from everyone.

If you could be put in a character's place on TAGS for
one episode, who would it be and what episode?

I just wanted to congratulate a friend of mine, Rodney Tirey, for his first
round victory on TV Lands Ultimate Fan Search last night (Wednesday). I
meant to send a message earlier so everyone could watch but I guess I just
wasn't thinking. Watch for him again in the next 5-7 days in the
quarterfinals.

We were told that Maggie-Peterson Mancuso (Charlene Darling) was a
multi-talent singer, able to sing lots of types of music, but at the Pigeon
Forge event, seeing and hearing her sing confirmed it. Her talent would
have been welcome at any of the shows up and down the strip there at Pigeon
Forge, but on this night she was there with her Mayberry fans. She seemed
far from the hills with her gorgeous full-length dress and classy tunes.
Her performance in the first session was highlighted by a touching rendition
of "My Buddy" dedicated to the late Denver Pyle and other departed TAGS
stars, and sung in a single spotlight before a black background highlighted
with sparkling sequins. Maggie looked as young an vibrant an ever, a
beautiful lady.

The crowd thrilled to the appearance of the most central TAGS character to
appear, Betty Lynn, our Thelma Lou. Though 74 years young, Betty still has
those sparkling Fife-catching eyes. What is lost in the youthful figure was
more than made up for with the unmistakable voice, the charming grace, and
genuine sweetness of our 'Thel'. She looked like she could have just walked
out of the dreamed-about home with Barney. She shared insights such as how
people thought that she really had a thing for Don Knotts...and how they
'acted' that with so little physical contact. She is truly proud of Thelma
Lou and honestly appreciates the fan adoration after all these years. Betty
graced the audience with her rendition of "Getting to Know You" which was
her earnest desire with the audience. For those seeing a TAGS star for the
first time, this was truly a treat. We were 'there' in Mayberry in the year
2000 in the home of Thelma Lou with friends, a timeless experience.

Nope, Laura Lee. The man who everybody THOUGHT was Johnny Coons (SOMEbody
told us that was his name awhile back, and we all fell for it) AIN'T
really Johnny Coons. The man we've all been watching strolling through the
streets of Mayberry, or standing in crowd scenes, or being featured (with
few words of dialog) more prominently in some episodes, is named Tom
Jacobs. This is according to the article on the back cover of the July
issue of "The Bullet", TAGSRWC's newsletter, and the source of the info is
George "Goober" Lindsey. According to the article, Tom Jacobs is Danny
Thomas' brother.

So, all these years we've been watching the "great Tom Jacobs" doing his
thing in Mayberry. As for WHO Johnny Coons really is, I don't know. Maybe
SOMEbody else can tell us, and I'm sure we'll all believe him.

his brother. (Hmmm...and I wasn't even wearing my bucket!)

Exactly right. His real name was Amos Jacobs, but when he first entered
show business, he was so afraid that he would be a failure, he changed his
name out of fear of embarrassing his family. He had several siblings, two
of whom were Daniel and Thomas, so he borrowed their names to use for his
stage name.

BTW, In the TAGS pilot episode, a sign for Amos Jacobs' hardware store can
be seen.

That's a great idea; I have just one question, though: Is Frieburger going
to be there to keep things running smoothly? He's Mayberry's sewer
inspector, after all.

I served on a jury in Mobile with people from other counties because those
counties were included in our "circuit." So, Mt. Pilot, even in another
county, could have housed the circuit court or even federal court. (Although,
I doubt this would have been a federal case.)

I'm sure that all you folks already know this....but did you catch the
fact that....in the "Punch in The Nose" episode....that Opie comes
in...and said that someone said....Floyb (sic) is a crook." Did the
editors miss this one.....I think there is even a "Floyb is a Crook"
chapter of the AGRWC.....oh well....let's not make a moulage out of it!

Great messages from those who went to Pigeon Forge for the tribute to TAGS!
That brings me to two questions -- favors, actually....
First, would anyone be able to post photos from that event (or other TAGS
gatherings)on the web so that those of us "homebound folks" could see what
we missed?
Second, as a new-ish member of the WBMUTBB? chapter, I'd like to see a list
of the annual TAGS gatherings, with date, location and brief description.
I've counted up 3 or so that people have mentioned in recent weeks,
including the Pigeon Forge event, a 40th anniversary event (was that the
same as the Pigeon Forge event?), and Mayberry Days. And something in April
2001? A couple of us Kansas City fans are contemplatin' attending one of
these events next year, if we could have enough advance notice to plan, pack
our picnic basket, and get Wally to give our car a thorough check.

Many thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer.

Hey gang,

I've waited til now since Monday's airing of Citizen's
Arrest to see if anyone else noticed what I did.

Maybe this has come up before but I haven't seen it.
When Andy leaves the courthouse before Gomer call to
report the robbery at Wally's, the keys to the cell
were not on the peg outside the cell door. (Must have
been on the peg outside the cell drawer.) Anyway, how
did Otis get out of his cell to answer the phone and
how did Barney get out to help Andy at Wally's? The
cell doors may have been open but Barney told Andy
earlier "Don't put that key in the there, I'm not
coming out". How 'bout getting those buckets out and
tellin' me what you think.

Drop by the "Event Calendar" section of the TAGSRWC web site....you'll see the
information there. If
all you folks have a chance, you ought to check out the TAGSRWC site. There's a
TON of information
on there and you can even do a SEARCH for what you're looking for. The url is
