My husband is a TAGS fan, (I made sure of that before I married him!) ;) but he
also wonders why, when I'm watching a TAGS that I've seen 1000000 times, that
I'm
rolling around laughing until the tears come. It's just that Mayberry and its
citizens are so charming and hilarious that I can't help myself. No matter how
bad a day has been, I can watch a TAGS episode and be at least a little happier.
(It's been a rough two days...maybe I need to go watch one now!)

I was watching the episode where Andy goes to Raleigh to see about a job
with the Hogarth Detective Agency......He gets Barney all excited about
the fact that he (Barney) could become the next sherrif. As Barney
stands daydreaming about the possibilities and says that he has to
go.....because some kind of permit has come in...I can't make it out.
Anyone know what he was talking about?

"No Judd...you don't get guns!"

"I think I've heard just about enough about that tomatoe!"

I seem to remember a special with some of the TAGS cast and hearing Otis say
he was the
very first Fred Flintstone voice as well. I dont think he did a lot of
episodes tho before being replaced by
someone else for what ever reason.

I think someone else mentioned him being a voice on Rocky and Bullwinkle as
well here recently on the Digest.

Now that Hal Smith has been mentioned, it reminded me
of some other
things he did. Hal did quite a few cartoon character
voices. Two
that come to mind right away are Rabbit from Winnie
the Pooh and Goofy
in the Disney animated short, Mickey's Christmas
Carol. Does anyone
know of other character voices he recorded?

Alan

I think he did the voice of Jiminey Crikett as well

Hal Smith was also the voice of John Avery Whittaker (Whit)
in the radio and animated video collection of "Adventures in Odyssey"
A childrens story collection from Focus on the Family.
I'm 35 and love to hear the stories on the radio and let my
imagination run wild while driving down the road ( with my Bucket off, of
course)
He was also a voice on The Flinstones.

Hi Martha
I know exactly how you feel about communicating with
people who like
the
show as much as you. I get teased because I like it
and watch it so
much.
Its such a wonderful show.
   Elaine

Hey Ya'll,
I know exactly what you mean! Some folks just don't
get it...For example when I do my best Ernest T. Bass
impression by saying "How do you do Mrs. Whiley?" some
folks look at me like Im some kind of nut; but when I
find a TAGS fan we both crack up,and form a bond that
the rest of the world just does'nt share...Its just
pretty cool stuff.
When people ask me why I joined the BB I tell them
cause they asked me to stay and have a sandwich :)

Thanks for rule number two! There's enough negativity in the world without
bringing it to Mayberry. I have a suggestion, though. The next time
someone sends a negative message, take it straight to the city dump. I'll
meet ya'll there after dark with my flashlight - me, Barney, Ange & Aunt
Bee. (hehe)

Seriously, we could all learn a valuable lesson from Opie's gossip column.
Personally, I couldn't think of anything negative to say.

See ya'll at the diner!

I love this kind of stuff too, Janet. But there's an inconsistency with
the scene involving the calendar. If you notice, the month that Barney
marks the "x" thru is a 31-day month, and therefore CAN'T be September!

Here are a few:

Philippe (the horse) in Beauty and the Beast
Owl and Pooh in some early Winnie the Pooh films (I don't think he ever did
Rabbit, though)
Small doft drink cup in dozens of McDonald's Happy Meal commercials
Barney Rubble in early Flintstones episodes (later replaced by Mel Blanc)
Jiminy Cricket (he replaced Cliff Edwards, the original voice)
Goliath (the dog) in Davy and Goliath
Ludwig von Drake in DuckTales
Mr. Whitacre in Adventures in Odyssey (kids' radio show)
Santa Claus in many, many holiday cartoons

I second that praise for the movie, "Follow Me Boys." I remember seeing it
at the theatres as a youth and enjoying it so much. I have viewed it with
my children a few years back and it is just as good now, especially since I
am a Scouter.

First yes you are raising that boy right. Also, I just had to add that I
also done the same thing. I was sitting with my family watching it and when
the question was asked I hollered out I before E except after C, and e
before n in chicken.. You talking about some strange looks. I thought I
would die from laughing so hard. I guess that's what they get for not
watching TAGS faithfully.

Have a Mayberry filled day.

Folks: I am submitting the new 1000 trivia questions to the game company
this week. I salute Jeff koontz who contributed a huge number of questions!
He asked for nothing in return, a true mayberrian. He will be immortalized
by having his name in one of the multiple choice questions!

I believe the way the game is played could be spiced up.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a design/ objectives change????????????

I will pass them along to the game company. There would be no monetary
compensation.

I have just finished voting for my favorite TAGS episodes on TV Land.
It is coming up the first weekend of Sept. Can't wait!!!!
Also, having finished reading the digest from yesterday, it made me so
happy to be a part of our Mayberry that I just wanted to thank
Allan and all of you good people for making it possible to have this on
the internet. If you are a regular TAGS member and get to read this
everyday it makes you feel so special. We all have our favorite scenes
and sayings. And we all know what the others mean when they write in
their favorites. Just thanks to everyone for a very special "place."

Let's all try to do what Allan asks. After all, we're very lucky to have
WBMUTBB, so let's not mess it up. But, you're forgetting rule #3. No spitting
on the floor. P.S. Did you see "Barney" beat up Fred Plummer the other day?
Still Funny!
