Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Mayberry townfolk! I know that Andy and Opie use worms, as we have seen Opie with his can of worms (to feed the Winkin, Blinkin and Nod). Maybe Andy used lures of some type too. If he had of caught the fish with a lure of some sort, he would have had to rebait the hook. Just a thought mind, don't want to be starting any moulages. Airy sighting Hi Y'all and Happy Thanksgiving! Just wanted to report that on the 6pm News on WRC Channel 4 in DC on Wednesday night, the entertainment reporter Arch Campbell did a report on Mt. Airy. He had his haircut at Floyd's City Barber Shop, by Floyd himself (Russell Hiat), ate a Pork Chop sandwich at the Snappy Lunch (actually he said he was about to wear it!). Visited Mayberry Gifts and took in the sights at the Mt. Airy Visitor's Center. What a great surprise as I was channel surfing during the TAGS episode on TVLand during the commercial break. It brought back memopries of my two Mayberry Days visits and I got a chance to see the town (when it isn't crowded for the MD festivities). He also stayed overnight at the Andy Griffith House Bed and Breakfast. Hope everyone is doing great. I found your comments interesting, Kail. My kids haven't seen the Grinch yet but sure do want to and soon! (actually, I can't wait either! ;) Would you recommend this movie to kids? Mine are ages 8, 6, and 21/2 and they're very impressionable (what kids aren't)." Well Debbie, as I said, the movie is pretty good except for the few "off color" jokes I mentioned. I found them inappropriate for a kids movie, but I doubt that they will scar your kids. I'm sure they hear worse at the playground. I was just disappointed that the powers that be felt this warm hearted Christmas story needed "butt" jokes. Here is a little holiday cheer that I penned. I hope no one objects to me posting this. Today is a most wonderful time of year, A time filled with gatherings full of cheer, When we come together with ones we love, To thank, for our blessings, the Lord above, There will be a turkey, roasted golden brown, With dressing and gravy all around, Homegrown butter beans and buttered rolls, Fresh corn and sweet potato casserole, Around this feast we'll all take a seat, And prepare to, most likely, overeat, But let us bow our heads before we start, And join hands and pray from the heart, To thank our Heavenly Father up above, For his tender kindness and love, For giving us all that we need to live, And above that, for all to us he did give, For the freedom we have and the country that's ours, For the beauty of the sun, moon, and stars, For our friends and family, to us so dear, For the children that fills our lives with cheer, For the health we have to work and play, For giving us yet one more undeserved day, Most of all, let us remember, before we are done, To thank Him for His only begotten Son, And that if we will simply do what He has told, We will one day live in a City of Gold, After our prayer we'll enjoy the meal of the fall, Kick back and watch a little football, And before we know it, it's time to go home, And up the next day, through our lives we will roam, But let us remember that Thanksgiving is not a holiday, It is a command to be done, day after day after day. II Cor. 9:11 "Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God." Phil. 4:6 "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God." Col. 2:7 "Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving." May you have a wonderful and happy Thanksgiving Holiday.
