Hello:
On the subject of jobs in Mayberry, being an elementary school teacher myself,
I think I would like to teach in Helen's school. Her worst discipline problem
was Ernest T. and she only had him a short time.
She had the same kids every year, no other teachers, that I can recall at
school, and no principal until high school. She didn't have any extra duties
and school only lasted 30 minutes!
And the best part was, she got summers off.

I popped in on a couple of episodes. Saw the Bookie Barber and Mayor Pike
on the roof of a building while Ethyl and Lucy pretended to be space aliens
(they weren't no Crab Women, let me tell you.)

Later on, I saw the Bookie Barber again, can't remember what that episode
that was or what his part in it - anybody else? There was one other
episode that reminded me of TAGS. Again, I only was jumping around, but
caught a hillarious scene or two when Lucy, Ethyl and the girls had formed
an "All Girls Orchestra" and they were nice, real nice. Almost as nice as
the Mayberry band when they auditioned for Mayor Stoner. Then in the
conclusion, they pulled the old swithcheroo, but instead of trading band
uniforms, Ricky's real orchestra dressed in ladies evening gowns. I think
one of those ladies was eating blueberry pie.

I'm so happy to know that there are more than just a few who like the
Convicts at Large episode besides me.
Maude played Martha in The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, too.

If I lived in Mayberry, I would love to work at Morelli's (spelling?) to
witness Barn at work in the romance department. It's supposed to be THE place
to take your date for a romantic dinner, out on the highway.

By the way, the town I live in has a population of 230. I've been told that I
DO live in Mayberry!

I have watched each ones answers about what their
dream job would be in Mayberry, and I haven't seen my
favorite. I am our church organist and I would be
Clara's assistant, she does suffer from "nuralgia" you
know. Which of course that new "young" doctor could
not cure, seeing as how he was fresh out of medical
school, couldn't even carve a turkey!......Anita I
guess I just have a "compelsion" for music!!!!!!

Subject: my job in Mayberry

I have been giving this subject considerable thought and have finally decided
what I would do. Iwould be a weight-trainer...I do some of this in real life
and love it-- so it stands to reason I'd just love it more in Mayberry!
There doesn't seem to be much of a call for that sort of thing, though... I
only remember seeing 3 episodes where physical fitness is referred to: the
one where the muscle man goes into the drug store to impress Ellie with his
physique (they all just came in, introduced themselves and
started...twitching!), the one where Warren arrests all those women for
playing Bingo,(in one scene at the jail, there are 2 women with weights and
it looks like one is showing the other a few moves), and the one where Opie
wants to win the medal, (Barn shows him a thing or two about getting in shape
for the race).
Yes, I definitely think it would be fun to work out with the citizens of
Mayberry!!!

Ah......Mayberry. You know it says in the bible, God has prepared
many rooms in heaven.
Sometimes I like to think one of those rooms would be the town of mayberry.
ha ha
You could go and live for any amount of time and work there.
I actually think the best job would be Barney's. Being the deputy. Because
his job is the kind where he gets out a lot and see's everyone, yet, its
probably
not as stressful as Andy's.
I'd just love sitting around the office during a summer day eating tuna fish
sandwiches for lunch while a big thunderstorm is outside...
(sort of like the cozy scene
in "dogs dogs dogs")

Thought I would weigh in on the Mayberry job question. Since I am numbers
oriented, I think I would like Howard Sprague's job---or maybe I could have
the black & white version of the job, since Howard doesn't show up until the
color shows.

<<Just listening to Andy make those little noises relaxes me.
I wonder if he did that most of the time ad lib, or if the writers
suggested it?>>

Sounds like your dad, doesn't it?!

My hunch is that most of those great hums, sighs, grunts, and noises came
from the rich storehouse of Andy's own observations of family and friends
growing up. He's such a convincing and natural actor that all that vocal
punctuation was probably just "there" with the character of Sheriff Taylor,
and maybe the writers or directors would occasionally go with it and make a
specific suggestion.

Another thing I love to see is the way Andy shakes his head and repeats
himself when he's frustrated: "Wait-- Wait a minute. Wait a minute! Just
wait a minute!"

Sometimes I could swear that Andy Griffith eavesdropped on my family. Maybe
the reason those little noises relax you, Rodney, is because they sound like
home.

Hello mayberrians , I saw T.V LANDS upcoming weekend marathon list last
night , TAGS is on the schedule for 3-10 and 3-11
.. Seems like TVLand has moved away from some of the sitcoms that first drew
me to it , Petticoat Junction , Green Acres , but hey as long as they keep
TAGS I will be watching it .

Subject: Ms. Barbara Perry update

Hi all, just another quit note regarding Barbara Perry, I spoke with her
twice this week. She's doing great. She went to her doctor on Friday and
he has given her the OK to get out for short times. She is walking with a
cane now. She hopes in a couple of weeks she will be walking with no
cane. A lot of you don't know this, but Ms. Perry was and still is a
dancer, her mother was a famous dancer and owned a dance studio in CA., so
you see how important it is for Ms. Perry to recover, her dream is to be
able to dance again. She wants to pass this on to all the TAGS friends,
she's trying to get all the thank you cards out, but has asked that you be
patience with her. Mr. Bullock, if you read this please e-mail me, Ms.
Perry has something she wants me to get to you. Thank you all again for
all the prayers and concern shown during Ms. Perry's recovery.
Always, Kathy Taylor

Subject: Biography on Ron Howard

Greetings,
I saw Ron last night on A&E's biography for the first time should have taped
it was real interesting especially since when he was 8 he always wanted to be
a director, and must say he has done an excrellent job of it. Over the
weekend on TVland the I Love Lucy marathon I noticed our own Mayor Stoner
(Parley Baer) as an agent fro Ricky and of course Lucy had to get her hands
in it.
Now for the job I would like to have in Mayberry I would open an bowling
center as I'm an avid bowler as I work part-time in a Pro Shop and carry an
average of 189 on one league and 194 on another. Any readers in Michigan
feel we have had our share of snow already I'm in the Dee-troit area.
I like to wish all readers of the digest a very Happy and prosperous NEW
YEAR!!!!!!!!!
Mark

The best episode ever! Who could forget those immortal words "Acka backa"?
Big Maude couldn't have been that big - we all know that anxiety magnifies
fearsome objects.

BTW, by way of this post, I located an absolutely beautiful hand-painted
apron with Floyd's hamburger line on it about a year ago and gave it to my
pal Big Shirl. She adored it. Sure glad I live in Mayberry.

Our own Jean Carson didn't get enough credit on that episode. Most people
didn't even realize that it was the same "fun girl". Love to play that wav
file! HELLO, DOLL

Howdy everyone! I don't write on here as often as I used to. Our two
little children keep me busy and off of the computer, but we always manage
to fit in TAGS episodes. Gotta keep these kids educated! Anyway, we've
never named pets or children after TAGS characters, but name all of our
vehicles after them. So far, we've had Hilda May, Charlene, Helen, Thelma
Lou, and Goober. We keep saving Andy and Barney for some special cars.
Sounds silly, but it makes it easy to refer to them since they have names.
Half the fun of buying new cars is figuring out who they will be named
 after.
