As for vanishing characters with no explanation -- Ellie
Walker is another good example. I may be wrong, but I'm not
sure that they every explained what happened to Floyd
either. The leaving of Gomer, Barney, Thelma Lou, and Andy
were explained, although sometimes not until later (e.g.
Thelma Lou).

Mendelbright woman said she KNEW Andy and his name was Andrew Jackson in his

confused."
Sorry, if i misunderstood you, in your origional letter, where I
thought you said that andy taylor`s middle name was Samuel, which we all
know, is Andy Griffith`s middle name-not Andy Taylor`s, which was, and
is,Andrew Jackson Taylor-(the character in the show)-was just trying to clear
that matter up of the two different names, for two different people-sorry for
any confusion-best of luck to you and yers!

Dear TAGS friends:
I am from Northern California(near the Sacramento area) and heard a rumor
that Ronnie Howard's wife is from this area. Is this true? And have you ever
met an actor or famous person accidentally? Heres a couple..not to
namedrop, but to show you, ya just never know where some stars will show up in
THEIR EVERYDAY ROUTINE
1. Jim Nabors: Met him purely by accident while DJ ing at a famous nightclub
Waikiki. (Great guy) Only TAGS star I have met.
2. Gary Burghoff ("Radar" of Mash) I was working at a Video Store in Paradise
CA
and he walked in to turn in a VCR and 2 dozen tapes he had rented.
3. Tony Curtis: I was minding my own business in Hawaii and he asked me for
directions to a popular restaurant in Hawaii. (Nice Man).
4. John Davidson: Met him and his agent purely by accident while shopping at
    Ghiardelli Square in SF.
5. Jane Fonda: Once again, I am at college working at Calif State University
Chico
and a woman says "Excuse me sir, do you know where the local TV station
is.?"
I turn around to give her directions..and its Jane Fonda.

Goes to show, you just never know WHERE youll spot an entertainer. If you
have any personalities you have met by accident, please share.''

I gotta go, Ive reached "my high water mark" maam

Well... it seems to me that Barney would correct any error since in
each case where a different middle name is given, he happens to be
there (I think). Barney seems particular about his name and gets
upset when it's not written or spoken correctly (as evident in
newspaper stories or "Sheriff Without a Gun"). I do know people with
two middle names, so this might be a possibility, however I have never
heard of anyone having three middle names.

Yes, I now remember him still being in jail... I had forgotten that;
thanks for reminding me. Guess I'll have to put a bucket on my head
and try to come up with another viable explanation as to why Barney
arrived at the 'filling station from a direction different to that of
everyone else... (perhaps in his excitement he lost his way to the
station and had to come to it from a point outside of town... but this
doesn't seem quite so viable).

All;

The intro. got me to thinking - I prefer bucketless
thinking sometimes - which favorite quote from TAGS do you
actually USE on a regular basis?

I use many lines from Mayberry in my sermons to make a
point and use as an illustration folks will get.

So, I don't use "Nip it" regularly or anything else - just
as the situation dictates, Mayberry comes to mind.

Besides, my family, not being the Mayberry-aholics I am,
wouldn't get it anyway.
