>>>Why was Aunt Bee doing jury duty in Mt. Pilot? Isn't that another town?
Maybe it is same county...
This is one of those points where the writers weren't entirely consistent.
In some episodes, Mt. Pilot is said to be just 12 miles away, but in others
it seems to be quite a bit farther (such as in "Barney's First Car" when
Andy says the drive usually takes about an hour).
It's definitely not in Mayberry County, though. This is confirmed in
several episodes, such as "Barney's Uniform," "The Rehabilitation of Otis"
and "The Barber Shop Quartet." So, it is indeed odd that Aunt Bee would be
selected for jury duty there.

What! Next thing you know, you'll be telling us there's no Santa Claus!
He just said that to make me feel bad. There really is a Mayberry -- isn't

Maybe Mt. Pilot is where the state District Court is held? Maybe that feller
was on trial in District court and Aunt Bee was serving in a state jury?
Just a theory.

Hey Everybody,
Just thought I would write in and say hey! I want everybody to know that
I love those Mayberry poems. I love the post about the two dogs named
Thelma Lou and Barney. Boy, that's a gooooood one! I think if I lived in
Mayberry that it would be fun to own a car dealership. I think it woud
have been fun back then to sell those 1962 model cars and up! I would
have opened a GM dealership though. My dad had a 1957 Pontiac that I
don't think that Ford squad car Andy and Barn had would catch it. I would
have to tell Ange if he wants a Ford then he would have to see Mrs.
Leish or go to Mount Pilot LOL!
Merry Christmas and God Bless,
Rodney Jackson, Siloam Springs, Arkansas

Subject: Whistling

In the January 2002 issue of Reader's Digest there is an article about
whistling entitled "Just Put Your Lips Together and Blow" by Ann Gerhart
(from The Washington Post). She says, "On television, the whistled theme of
'The Andy Griffith Show' used to conjure up a small-town coziness that has
vanished, if it ever existed at all." I'm not sure I agree with her
cynisism. She claims no one whistles anymore and quotes some so-called
experts who say only idiots whistle. (I must point out this isn't her
opinion, so don't write her and say I said it was.) Anyway, Ann doesn't
frequent the places I go. My brother and husband whistle alot. I'm
whistling now.

I remember Warren saying something about being from Boston (as was Jack
Burns). By the way, does anyone know what Burns is doing now? I know he
did a voice on "the Simpsons" a year or two ago..

So many choices............but I guess the most
appealing would to be "sarah" for our town and keep up
on everyone............or maybe the lady that ran the
ladies clothing store, then I could make sure that Aunt
Bee got the lovely bed jacket without Ange losing
Eagle eye Annie.

Hello happy-hearted Mayberryites!
I think we did this "What I wanna be in Mayberry" thing about six months
back, but its always fun to speculate and dream a little. This time I wanna
be the Stand-by operator. (not Cymbalist though) Sarah has got to have
some days off now and then, and she has to sleep...so I'll work the other
operator shifts so I can get to know and help everyone in town...but I won't
be a gossip. My lips are sealed....do you know what they're sayin about
Phoebe though?
Hey state-watchers..didn't we give up on Connecticut? You TVland watcher
probably heard the same reference I did Thursday night on the Laundromat
episode. Aunt Bee mentioned that someone (boy with adenoids removed) was
going to a small college in Connecticut. Paul are you keepin a running
list? For Maryland..Opie referred to Johnny Unitas of the Baltimore Colts.
Maine??
As close as I can get is--Atlan.. Ocean, and Can-na-da..Ole man Kelsey's
crick.
Another proud Mayberry parent story. My daughter, 6th grade was in a
"greatest Roman" competition, and she was berating a Roman ruler before the
class. Her best slam was..."His Sword was all Dusty, his Shield was all
Rusty because he never fought a battle in his life". I lost it, but was so
proud.
Just before the holidays here, let me put in the link one more time to a
neat Mayberry Christmas story that you've never seen. (not a good as the
real one--but what could be?)
You might call it...A Decoy--Shazam
http://mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/anewsome/private/fanfiction.htm
A Decoy??? Shazam!

Subject: Anybody Notice a Change in TAGS Airings?
Has anybody out there besides me noticed that all the stations airing TAGS,
including local ones seem to be airing the same versions TV Land airs
now? For years our local stations aired older copies that often had stuff
left in that the big wigs (TBS & WGN) cut out for commercials. Lately I've
noticed these have disappeared though and all the stations seem to be
airing the newer versions that TV Land has been using, complete with the
Paramount closing screen. Only one local station is still sticking to
their old prints. Does anybody know if Paramount has sent out new prints
and forced the stations to use them or have all these stations just decided
to get new ones on their own?
Also, just a reminder WGN is airing "Return to Mayberry" This SUNDAY at
1:00pm Eastern time.

I'm guessing that Mt. Pilot must be the county seat and the charge against
the man was something more than a local JP could handle.
