I think that Chief Noogatuck referred to Mayberry as "Happy Valley". He said
- "We'll call it Happy Valley" and everyone rejoiced and had refreshments.

Hey there everyone....

Regarding the location of Wally's Fillin Station....I visited a website
recently and the exact address of it escapes me, however, they went into
quite an analysis of Wally's location including different shots from Wally's
showing the guard shack, etc. from Gomer Pyle. I believe it was a link from
the Star Trek/Mayberry website where I found this. It's quite interesting.
If someone else knows the URL for it, please let everyone know so they can
visit. You might even try a search under "Ask Jeeves" or Google with a
question such as "Where is Wallys?"

>>However, what is Thelma Lou's occupation? What is Otis's occupation?
Thelma Lou has a house she has to pay for and Otis's drinking must cost him
a fortune... So how do they pay
for it? Any thoughts? Put your buckets on...Michael<<<

Michael, we only know that Thelma Lou works at an "office" from a line that
she speaks. It's always been my theory that she works at an Insurance
Office, because there always seems to be one in every small town.

As for Otis, He mentions something once about being a glue-dipper at the
furniture factory.
My theory on him is, he is semi-retired.

>>I expect several folks have found this site already<<

I had not seen that site Alan, (40 acres, Wallys and Gomer Pyle USCMC) very
cool, Thanks

>>>Character actor Tod Andrews has a rare, dubious distinction of appearing
in TAGS in its first season and its last season<<

That's a very cool piece of trivia! good find!

Hey folks, regarding Mayberry in the Midwest. If you're having trouble
getting thru the ticket line, keep trying. I think they only have one or
two people answering. I've ordered tickets twice and both times it took
about a half hour of redial. Curt Bell, since we're coming to New Castle,
are you going to show off your memorabilia collection??

To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Upon further reflection, I remembered that Joy Ellison also has the
distinction of appearing in the first season and last season of TAGS. She has
about six years between TAGS appearances. She popped up in the seventh season
and then finally in the last season in 'Opie's First Love.'
Sure, Tod Andrews looks the same after seven years, but compare Effie of 'A
Christmas Story' to Iris in 'Opie's First Love.' For you 'Forty Acres' fans,
look for her outside the Camp Henderson gate in the "Gomer Pyle USMC" episode
'Love Finds Gomer Pyle.'

I imagine others have replied on this one, but it was stated Otis was a glue
dipper at the local furniture factory, in addition to keeping the county
stills in operation.

Subject: Barney's Hicups
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I just finished watching poor fold Barn trying to get rid of the hiccups.
Never could figure out why he couldn't eat between them, but that is beside
the point. Just wondering if anyone uses this cure. It works 100 % of the
time - almost always. Just take a large spoonful of creamy peanut butter and
swallow it quickly. It does the trick for me everytime. Something to do
with how it affects the muscle in the throat that causes the hiccups. I was
taught this by a fellow teacher many years ago and have used it ever since.
Everyone who tries it is amazed at how well it works. Too bad all the good
folks of Mayberry didn't know this.

Subject: Otis and Thelma Lou's Jobs
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I put a bucket on my head and tried to remember about
these jobs, and if my memory serves me correctly,
Thelma Lou works as a secretary in an office. In the
episode where her and Helen "get into it", (and Barney
tries to patch things up with them) she says, "I have
to get back to the office". Seeing how jobs for women
were limited back in those days, I just always assumed
she was a secretary. As for Otis, wasn't Barney or
Andy heard to say Otis was a "glue dipper" down at the
furniture factory? My own sister had a similar job
in, Thomasville, NC at a furniture factory, and a lot
of furniture is made in NC anyway, so it makes sense
to me. Anybody else have any other ideas?

...I'm goin' to Nashville...wretch..miserable
wretch...

Saw Jean Carson, one of our Fun Girls, in an episode of the Twilight Zone
today.
A Most Unusual Camera was the episode and she looked and acted just like she
did
on TAGS, too bad she had to trip over that electric cord at the end and fall
out a window.
