Hey Mike I saw that episode too.Not only was Briscoe
on the show but also Henry Bennet (The Jinx) He was
fishing with Little Joe and he was catching more fish
than Little Joe!...Only thing tho they were fishin
from shore not from a boat I guess Little Joe didn't
want to take any chances after all he might of thought
Henry was some kind of Jinx...You know with him about
to lose his land and all.

That Briscoe gets around; I saw him on the Waltons this week; he was a
cousin to those darling Baldwin sisters. Meanwhile, I for one vote to
keep the Pocket in publication even if we have to pay more for it. It's
so nice getting a written newsletter once in awhile and the shopping news
is easier to decipher too.

Subject: The Mayberry Bridge
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
This past Friday, August 16, the Virginia Dare Memorial Bridge opened in
North Carolina, with Andy Griffith being a big part of the festivities. For
some strange reason, I was reminded of the Darlings' Robert E. Lee Natural
Bridge. The Darlings' bridge was probably based on the real Natural Bridge in
Virginia, one of the seven natural wonders of the world. U.S. 11, Lee
Highway, runs over top Natural Bridge. When I travel to the various Mayberry
events, I always cross the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. When I plan to see "Quiet
Sam" in Williamsburg, Virginia in March 2003, we plan on crossing the
Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, which connects Virginia's eastern shore to the
mainland. Finally, let's not forget the Mayberry "bridge" that brings all of
us good folk together in spirit.

Hey Debbie:
First, I want to congratulate your son for being
accepted into the NASCAR school. That is not an easy
school to get into. Hopefully, he will be lucky enough
to work for a Christian driver like Jeff Gordan.
Being from Charlotte, I am a natural NASCAR fan.
Secondly, to answer your question, Mooresville is a
beautiful little town. Although, I live in North
Charlotte, I spend the majority of my time in
Mooresville lounging on the beautiful Lake Norman. I
can honestly tell you that Mooresville is a suburb of
Charlotte in every sense. The majority of people who
live in Mooresville work in Charlotte. However, what
makes Mooresville so attractive is that it has not
lost it's Mayberry'ish charm and atmosphere. People
are friendly, children still walk to school and the
crime rate is very low. Your son will love it here.
If you have any other questions, feel free to eMail me
personally.

Subject: stuff for trained noticers
Date: Sun, 18 Aug 2002 18:50:42 -0500
Hi All,
I have noticed (being that I am a trained noticer) some things on the show and
wondered if the other folks of Mayberry would like to comment on them.
1. Is it me or is Sharon Despain on "Class Reunion" a blonde Thelma Lou? I
think it is stunning how much they look alike.
2. In "The Great Filling Station Robbery" when Barney is demonstrating to
Gomer how the camera will take the picture of someone entering the door.
Notice what you see through the door window. I believe that is a house? How
can this be when it has been discussed and decided that it is a row of trees
and a creek that is across from Wally's filling station?
3. Why are Thelma Lou and Helen Crump never in Church? You here Barney ask
Andy to borrow money to pick something up for her on the way to her house, but
she is never there?
4. Also in the episodes "Barney and the Governor" and "Cousin Virgil", the
chauffer for the governor and the bus driver on "Cousin Virgil" are the same
person, Rance Howard!
5. In "Cousin Virgil" Barney tears out the cell window to get Otis out. The
wall that you see through the cell window is a wooden fence. However in
"Deputy Otis" you see the wall again through the window and it is brick? Also
when Virgil wears down the tumblers on the keys, they didn't try the other key
which is hanging behind Barney's head, you never know maybe he didn't ruin
that one.
6. One more, In the episode "A Medal for Opie" (I think it is this episode)
when Barney is walking Opie out of the office after he signs up for the race,
look out the door at the squad car. Is that a car or a cardboard stand up of
some sort. I believe that one side is missing?
I seem to have this trained noticer compelsion problem. I married late in
life and it's made me bitter too. And don't forget fungus of the knee!!
God Bless
Michael

Subject: Barney's spending
From: Mary Giesbrecht <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Hello Folks,
I just watched the episode of the filling station robbery where, at the
beginning, Barney sets up the intercom in the cell. It got me wondering
about where the money would have come from for that, and some of the other
things he bought, (motorcycle, etc.). Andy never seemed to make an issue out
of him spending the money, although it was mentioned several times that they
were short of funds... and it certainly doesn't seem like Barney would have
used his own money on things like that. If Barney was free to spend "office
money", you'd think he might have bought the tear gas that he so often
wishes he had. Just wondering what kind of thoughts or explanations there
could be out there for this situation??

I absolutely love getting "The Pocket," the paper replacement for "The
Bullet." I hope it is continued. Sometimes there is no substitute for hard
copy. I mean, I like the internet and all, but there's no substitute for
something you can put your hands on. Sometimes its the only piece of "cheery"
mail I get - what with bills, etc....PLEASE continue "The Pocket." I
personally know of someone who read it in Afghanistan, while serving our
country.......
