I was watching the episode where the new doctor in town removes Opie's tonsils...it implies the surgery was done at the doctor's office. Then I started thinking about when I was growing up in Waldo, AR. Seems that one doctor did have a small hospital with his office, all at his residence. Don't remember if it included surgery facilities or not. Was that commonplace in small towns at one time?
