My favorite episode is one that rarely ranks very highly in polls and that's surprising. It's "The Big House." Among the treasures: Barney's speech about the two rules at "the Rock," Gomer's first appearance in any type of official uniform, a then-unknown George Kennedy appearing as a police detective, the dialogue about Barney smelling "something in the air" and Gomer saying "It's the wind from the diner," Barney spilling his coffee one of the times the inmates escape...it just looks like it could've been written and directed by the Coen brothers. What a riot.
