The comments concerning Frances Bavier and Vivian Vance brought some
of my ancient history to mind...

I have it firsthand, as I lived and worked in Hollywood many moons ago,
that many of the on-screen "nice" stars were really not so nice...

I was a lowly secretary at CFI, and because of working at CFI everyone
there (and other places such as Todd AO, Desilu, etc ) had free reign back
then to visit the sets while filming was being done. Some of us girls ate
our
lunches many times on the floor in a corner of the sets (being real quiet)
and
watched. Sure was an eye opener for this West Virginia hillbilly...

It always seemed like it wasn't the "main" actors, such as Buddy Ebsen
(a great guy by the way) but the lesser actors on a show that was so uppity
and difficult. I was floored at the "airs" that many put on. I sure could
name
a bunch I'd like to have given a swift kick in the tush...

Now I'm not saying that is the case with Frances Bavier, as I never met her.
But I thought I'd share my thoughts that came while I was under my bucket...
