I saw the "Clarence Earp" episode last night and it reminded me of when I
was little.

We resided in Hendersonville, NC, and on the same street lived the mother of
Pat Hingle, who played Mr. Gibson the promoter for Clarence Earp (among many
other TV roles). A couple of times we were out in the yard playing football
and Mr. Hingle walked by with his mom and waived. My dad was the only one who
knew who he was (from Gunsmoke) but looking back at it, I suppose it was my
first Mayberry moment. This was shortly after the show went off the air.....
