I posted yesterday about my talk at the Wisconsin Hospital Volunteer Partner
State Convention. Well, last night was our formal banquet and you will
never guess who made an appearance. I was sitting at my table and a young
lady came up to me and called me Barney because I said in my talk that many
of my friends call me. She said there was someone at the banquet that they
thought I should meet and that they wanted to take some pictures with me.
So naturally, being a friendly Mayberry guy, I went up to the front and
there was a woman dressed up just like Aunt Bee. She had Bee's Sunday white
hat an Aunt Bee dress and white gloves and she was the spitting image of our
Sainted Aunt Bee. So I got a big hug and had to pose for some pictures.
Now I thought that was just about the nicest thing that anyone could do. I
just about broke down and cried. Us Anderson's are sensitive, you know.

Also a gentleman came up to me and said that about twenty years ago he was
on a first class flight out of L.A. and who should be in their section of
the plane but good old Don Knotts. He said he was so darn to earth and he
entertained them all for about two hours.

Another gal told me that Hal Smith was from her home town Marshfield, WI.
Now I am not too sure about that. I didn't want to contradict her, but I am
doing some checking on that. I don't want to say anything to her until I
get the official verification. Even if he never was from Marshfield I don't
think I will ever tell her. It made her so happy to think that.
