I gave a 30 minute speech today at a state convention for hospital
volunteers throughout Wisconsin. There were 368 delegates there from 57
hospitals. They gave me a standing ovation. It was unreal the talk it
generated about Mayberry all day. So many people came up to me and asked me
about Mayberry and told stories about growing up watching TAGS and what it
means to them to be able to still watch it. Four different groups asked me
if I could do a presentation at their facility. I took 54 books along to
sign and they were gone in about 15 minutes. I always donate my speaking
fees to our Feed My People group in Eau Claire. I am always amazed at the
reception I receive whenever I talk about our Mayberry folks. It means so
much to so many people. And this is the Midwest. I can only imagine what it
is like with you lucky folks who live so much closer to Mt. Airy. The
stories you are sharing about Mayberry Days makes we want to attend even
more some day. I still hope to come some time. Thank you to those who so
kindly post pictures so the rest of us can share your pleasure. I mentioned
our wonderful Digest and even got in some plugs for Weaver's when they asked
me where I buy all my Mayberry items.
