i attended school in the 60's also and the lunches were so different from what
my girls were offered. I bought lunch boxes for both of them. One had Barbie
and the other had Annie.
I remember deliciouse and ver nourishing lunches. homemade just like we would
have had at home with Mama. Freshly baked peanut butter cookies or oatmeal
raisin cookies with milk so cold that it had ice crystals. We also had a full
set of silverware including a knife so that we could eat properly. There were
times that all my daughters were given were spoons, Kinda hard to cut a piece
of meat with a spoon, but I guess if it's the mystery meat that comes across
the counter now, a spoon would do. Oh, those were the good old days........I
even remember the lady that was in charge of our lunchroom in grammar
school,Mrs. Ada.
That's another thing, we never, absolutely never called an adult by their
first name like I've heard children do no. My mother would have pitched a hissy
fit.
