With the 2007 Mayberry Days fast approaching, let's not forget the memory of the Blu-Vue Motel in Mt. Airy, North Carolina. The Blu-Vue, mentioned in the TAGS episode 'Opie's Fortune' (November 16, 1964) was the first motel in Mt. Airy, built during the motel boom across the United States in the 1950s. While we may see certain distinguished guests and Elvis staying at places such as the Mayberry Motor Inn, let's not forget the motel that was around before the fanfare of Mayberry Days, the Blu-Vue.
