Hi Neighbors I have a question for the expert level noticers. I'm trying to understand how the opening credits on the show worked, specifically, for Elinor Donahue. I have the Paramount set of DVDs. I find only 3 audio mentions of Elinor in the opening credits....where the voice over announcer said her name. This was on Ellie Comes To Town, Irresistable Andy, and later in the season The Horse Trader. I did not see a visual opening credit for Elinor Donahue....that is her name on the screen in the open. Does anyone remember or know if her name was visually on the opening credits? I am fascinated by how the credits and who gets top billing worked on the show. I'm also curious as to whether the Paramount DVD collection could possibly have not put the correct "opening" with each show? I went through Season 1 carefully, and did note some episodes without Barney, did not have Don Knotts mentioned in the open--so it appeared to be correct. Part of what got me to thinking about this was watching some of the recent color episodes (on TVLAnd) where Francis Bavier gets opening credit, which she did not in the early years. Anyone know anything about this? Appreciate your help.
