I've been wondering what kind of job Otis might have had. At one point we know that he was unemployed, since he needed to get to his appointment with Mr. Skinner.
He also probably spent a good portion of his income boozing himself up. (He always had a taste for the stuff.) Since he was in love with the drink, he must have spent the majority of his waking hours purusing his favorite pastime. And he was in jail a lot of the time, that is, unless he was sniffin' out stills and bringing it home all by himself. He must have known everyone who ran a still-he even found one who delivers. He even had his own cell for sleeping it off.
