One of the things the good folks in Mayberry did not have to contend with is the pesky telemarketer. Well I for one am tired of all those irritating phone rings even if they are from charities. I came up with a fun way to avoid talking with them. I can tell from my caller ID when it is a toll free number calling which is a giveaway that it is a telemarketer. So I answer by saying "Mayberry Sheriff's Office, Deputy Fife speaking". Usually there is a silence. Then they ask for Kenneth Anderson. To which I reply, "This is the Mayberry County Sheriff's office, there is no one here by that name." Again silence and then they apologize for dialing the wrong number. My only fear is that they can hear my wife laughing in the background. I now actually look forward to those annoying calls. Ain't it great to be a Mayberryite??
