Maybe there was a lot of British and English influence in Mayberry because some
of the mountain people had to write to England for suitable marriage partners
for their children. It almost happened to Andelina Walsh before she became
briefly betrothed to Opie Taylor. That poor child wasn't even in school yet
and had experienced a broken engagement.
