Mitch Jayne, who played the pipe-smoking Stringed Bass player of the Darling Boys claimed that he is the one with that infamous line. "Bout to Pop" He spoke at one of those reunion gatherings and mentioned his great actoral debut being that line. They were not considered actors (from a union and pay standpoint) because they did not have speaking parts.
I remember he also talked about how many times they had to film the snore-fest the Darling boys had that night that Andy and Barney stayed with them at the Darling Cabin. Apparently they kept trying different snoring noises and cracked each other up so much that it took several "takes".
