Brand new here , trying to figure out the *system* I was in town yesterday at our local hardware store and the owner, Mr T, is so wonderful. Been there for years. One year ...a while back I needed a water heater element but didn't have the cash. He traded for some homemade cinnamon raisin bread. You get a lot more than retail items there. He is a fount of wisdom and humor...Doesn't wear a name badge or colored vest.... really has a lot of stuff in his small store... and is honest ! He is a magnet for children ...teaching them who is on the 20, 10, 5 and one dollar bills...and the hundred...and a bit about the history of each...My children consider it a treat to get to come with when we need to go to the hardware. It is located on the town square. We know the sheriff here too. Does an awesome job.... but lately one of his new deputies has been a nuisance.... this young man's pants don't even fit him right (literally) and he has been known to harass more than one person in the county..... Word is that Barney Fife has better manners.. and *hope he keeps his bullet in his pocket* Word also has it that he will be leavin our *finest* soon. After I got my errands done, I went to get a couple gallons of gasoline. I sometimes take it for granted but ...we don't prepay here ! Don't even have a stoplight for miles in any direction. Our barber has his own little shop and all the news...and gives a good haircut for only $7 Funny how we will watch an episode of Mayberry and someone in the family thinks of what we have here. except in Mayberry, they don't seem to have ticks, chiggers, mosquitos, flies..... :) Have a blessed day y'all .....gotta get some bread in the oven.
