Isn't it sad to think about how the meanings of words have changed so much
over the years. Here is an example of what some common 2007 words meant in
Mayberry: I'll bet many more could be added to this list.

dope - a person who was not overly smart and rather naive.
acid - an important part of every battery
grass - what Opie cut to earn his allowance
joint - a cut of meat, or a place out on the highway that sold beer
coke - a soft drink at Walker's Drug Store
weed - something that grew in a garden and choked out the good plants
trip - going to visit relatives or friends who live far from Mayberry
web - a beautiful creation by a spider
net - something you used to help you catch fish
chip - something to snack on
virus - a microscopic organism that made you sick
pot - what Aunt Bee used for cooking Sunday dinner
gang - Opie and his friends playing together
hard rock - what Ernest T. threw
hardware - a store that sold nuts and bolts
gay marriage - a marriage that was happy and fulfilling
