Fellow citizens: I come here to this forum today to diffuse and clarify half truths, misconceptions and malicious gossip regarding the 'bed jacket/fishing rod" controversy that has torn our community apart. First of all, one would think that with the ongoing state of emergency out at Myer's Lake involving the alleged sea serpent, that good citizens of Mayberry would have little time to devote to such an obvious non-story as this. I suspect and indeed, I will soon have incontroversial evidence that this is nothing more than a political smear emanating from former Mayor Pike and his cronies. The idea that any shady back room dealing would occur in my administration is repulsive to the core of my civic minded life. Why only today, a letter arrived from my dear wife, who is currently visiting her niece in New York City. I assure you, dear voters, that in this letter, she describes the sights and I see no reason why this fine lady should be bothered with such a preposterous non story as this. In conclusion, let me declare that we should all be civic minded and VOTE STONER!
