Valerie: I am also a big Aunt Bee fan and collector. I have several of her W-2
forms and copies of her pay check stubs from various works (none from Tags
however). Several of these have handwriting on them that I choose to believe is
hers. I also have a piece from her silver serving set given to one of her home
health nurses. I live close to Siler City, N.C. where she is buried and visit
there often. There is always at least one jar of pickles that someone has left
on her tombstone. There are many stories about her still circulating through
the town and most of them not very good. She kept very much to herself and at
times reportedly could be very rude. She lived with many cats and her home was
found to be not very hygenic when she died. At least when she died, all of the
proceeds bfrom the auction of her personal items went to N.C. Public
Television. Many years ago an acquaintance of mine was approached by a family
of 4 as she came out of church one Sunday morning asking if she knew where Aunt
Bee lived. She soon recognized the man as Ron Howard and his family. She
offered to drive them over to the house which she did but Ms. Bavier would
never come to the door. Andy has been quoted many times as saying that Ms.
Bavier just did not like him. She and Howard Morris evidently could not stand
each other. It seems that she never took part in any of the onset hijinx. All
actors are not what they seem on the screen. She had a very successful career
prior to TAGS and maybe she felt this type of work was below her. Anyway,
whatever the story, it doesn't take away from her great work on TAGS and the
love that her fans will always have for her. Remember: Toot - Toot - Tootsie
Goodbye! P.S. After writing this I found:

great pictures and most of the info appears legit
