Recent posts on zippo lighters and "smoker's bulge" has me watching pockets
now! But let me make this assertion: I don't believe Barney was a smoker.
The night they checked the jewel thief into the Mayberry County
Corrections Center, he didn't have a light and went scrambling across the
Courthouse to find a match! Nor did he have one on the camping trip. Of
course that was a trip that called for pioneer moxey anyway.
When he carried a lighter, it must have been because he had a sense that he
might need one that day to light the way....you know that ESP....extra
sensitive perception.....They're doin a lot that over in the Himalaya......
For an introductory episode I would have to go with "Man In A Hurry",
although its liking picking your favorite child. How can you do that? As
someone else mentioned, "Man In A Hurry" captures the series at full stride,
most of the characters are there.....and they're comfortable in their roles.
The episode offers a wonderful insight into what I think the show is
about.....sorting out what's really important in life and what ultimately is
not. How about a best of three? Offer "Haunted House" and "Convicts at
Large". Serve pepparelli pizza and coffee with a slice of chocolate layer
cake from Aunt Bee's kitchen and who could refuse a second helping of TAGS?
More potatoe salad anyone?
